Making the most of it...

A few days ago I headed out of town for an overnight trip to Flagstaff to see Judy Collins play at the Orpheum Theater. An older, laid back crowd appreciated going back in time as “sweet Judy blue-eyes” walked everyone through the folk scene in NYC. Her opening line, “If you remember the 60s, you weren’t there!” I was a young child, but the 60s movement does not escape me. Storytelling captivates me so I enjoyed the show.

Getting out of town helps me to clear my head. It takes me away from my routine. I am able to see things differently, to let my mind roam. Driving along Arizona highways with music playing and gorgeous landscape storing pictures in my memory bank did me a world of good. A change of scenery brings a change of internal scenes and I am grateful.

I worked with a client, Mary, a few weeks back. I hadn’t seen Mary in quite awhile and I was glad that she called for a treatment*. When Mary showed up she said, “I decided to take a stay-cation.” She explained that she recently finished a few big work projects and she needed some time to herself. Sleeping in, hanging out with her husband, being with friends.... all of the things that fill Mary up was on the agenda.

Stay-cations are a good thing. Therapy is an awesome addition. Mary reminded me that you don’t have to go far to find yourself again. Therapy is not something that you need to do under stress, it can be a beautiful thing while de-stressing and feeling good. I have found that when I do therapy without any pressing issues I go deeper inside and I feel all that is working for me.

So, whether you are on vacation or stay-cation, take some time to add therapy to the mix and find a new state of YOU. Be well... Nancy T.
