Birth Anniversary
Years ago, my friend, the Captain, coined the phrase “Birth Anniversary.” Given that we acknowledge the day in which the event of our birth took place, the expression seemed appropriate. April 10th is my birth anniversary. A celebration of the day that I entered the world some years ago–48 to be exact.
On this, the day of my birth I am happy to be here. The world feels really chaotic sometimes, but when I look at my life, I am truly blessed.
When I was a little girl, people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I usually responded, “A doctor.” I also said that I would have 8 kids or more. Well, neither of those ideas came to fruition but I am not disappointed. Each would have given me a very different life. Extreme paths to be sure.
The human body has always fascinated me and it continues to do so on a daily basis. Being a therapist* has given me a great deal of freedom as well as many healing gifts. I never get bored or overwhelmed by what shows itself in the therapy room. The intricacy that is US truly amazes and intrigues me.
My bucket list consists mostly of travel destinations. A record of the mystical, magical places that I wish to visit are on the fridge. It’s not too much of a mystery... most places are islands or have water around them.
One thing that does stand out (not on my list but in my heart) is living in New Zealand or Australia for a year or so. I feel the only way to know a place is to submerge yourself in the culture. I’m hoping that one is not too far off... in my 50s to be sure.
I know for a fact that the greatest gift that I have is my health. Life just gets tougher and tougher without feeling good each day. I’m grateful for good genes and a healthy family.
Life sure did throw me many a curve ball. But, with each hurdle or twist in the road I found more of me. It was like the path was laid out and even though I had no idea what I was doing, I found my way.
Let the celebration begin. Happy day to me! Wishing you all the best. Be well... Nancy T.
