Island Therapy

I did my first island treatment the other day. We were sitting on "Skimmer," our friend's fishing boat, listening to music, drinking a beer, and taking in the sights. Harald had mentioned hurting his knee a few months back. I decided to take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere to check out what was going on in his right leg. Fortunately for Harald, the knee was fine. However, the tissue below the knee had a few interesting twists and turns.

I did some Polarity Therapy to follow the energetic connections. In a short time Harald said, "I don't know what you do."

"You feel something happening?"

"Yeah."

"It's all about flow - getting things to flow and keeping things flowing."

That does sum up my work. There are countless ways to get the energy to flow. Basically, I was touching areas that opened the tissue around the knee. Harald's response told me that it was working - the tissue was softening.

Once I felt a good flow of energy, I told Harald to test it out. He said, "It's like magic, it feels better."

Today, I worked on Harald's soon to be 21 y.o. son, Clyde. Clyde actually found a therapy table on island so he could get a treatment. Island life has its physical challenges. Clyde twisted his back while pulling the dinghy. A popping shoulder also came into the picture. When I asked his intention, he said, "To feel young again." This from a young man. We settled on finding some SPACE.

Polarity Therapy surprises people. Most people have no idea what I am doing, yet they describe internal sensations in great detail. Clyde was very good at verbalizing those sensations.

When I finished the session, I left Clyde to gather himself while I washed my hands. As I returned to the porch, he was just opening his eyes. A big smile was on his face. He said, "My hands are vibes. I thought you were still at my feet when I heard the water running - you were in the other room. I wasn't even on the table - I was outside with the birds. I feel new - thank you."

Once he was off the table, Clyde said, "You have no idea." I laughed. After 25 years of therapy, I have some idea of how he was feeling.

An afternoon in a hammock was on Clyde's agenda. A swim on mine.

No matter how many times I describe what I do, it is truly the "experience" that gives people a sense of what is happening. Whether it's island therapy, boat therapy, or land therapy, it's all about connecting to oneself.

I said, "Happy Birthday Clyde."

He responded, "The only thing left is to drink beer." B-21's all around. Be well... Nancy T.
