Last Day

Just like many things in life, the "last day" can be bitter-sweet.

An evening departure allowed for a few hours at the beach. "Perfection" is the word that best describes it. I immediately headed for the water. It was a quiet day at Honeymoon-no tourist or crowds of people to raise the volume. Free-style took me from the clear shallow water out to where I could hang vertical. The only sea creatures in sight were fish and conch. I dove for the conch and returned to the surface with it. It folded into its protective shelter like a leaf that was left in the sun too long. As I examined the underbelly, a rich, shiny multitude of brown hues with white teeth stared back at me. The yellow leafy body was interally contracted. I held it under the water and admired its beauty, feeling its weight in my palms. Then I returned it to the security of the Caribbean floor.

The clarity of the Caribbean Sea continues to amaze me. With the sun high in the sky, sending down a blazing heat, I hung out in the shallow water. Two small  fish came between my feet and we played a game of tag... those suckers are quick. When I tired of the game, I laid back as my feet and knees rose to the surface. The salty sea provides an excellent floatation device.

The combination of fine sand and salt water creates a wonderful combination. Beth and I walked down the beach for our final Caribbean spa experience. While sitting in the wet sand, we applied the mixture to our bare skin. Typically, this spa treatment would cost over a hundred dollars. However, our luxurious exfoliating session was free and clear. While the sand dried, Beth and I shared our gratitude for this special place and time. It was BIG FUN!!!

One last swim for me. I kicked back in the Caribbean Sea and gave thanks. I invited all of my cells to absorb the healing properties that nature provided. Soaking in the best of the best.

I will miss the sea and its inhabitants. I'll miss our friends and the freedom to just "be." But, I will take so much more with me than I arrived with a month prior. That's sweet... oh, so SWEET! Wishing you all sweetness. Be well... Nancy T.

    Hey Nancy:

Sounds like a great trip from quickly perusing few of your entries. I totally relate to you capturing some of your moment-to-moment experiences. More and more, I see this is the essence of life--those "present moments."

I moved to Sarasota last year and just totally love being in tune with the sea. It felt like home, especially when I'm in the water, swimming like a mermaid, in many ways when I arrived and has increased more since. Surely, it's one of the things we miss when living in AZ . . . but here there are the mountains, fantastic sunsets, etc. Wonderful when we can spend part of year and commune with nature in different landscapes. Blessings!!
